Overview
This holiday villa is set in semi-tropical countryside at Tijola, just four minutes from Orgiva, the capital in the main valley of the Alpujarras mountain region near Granada.
If you want more to do than just relax in the garden and swim in the pool, the location is ideal for days out in Granada, at beaches on the Mediterranean coast, or exploring the little mountain villages of the High Alpujarras, where the walking and country restaurants are a big draw.
The villa sits amidst a sunny, exotic ambience in a fertile bowl between mountain ranges. It's warm enough to grow avocados and mangos here in the Guadalfeo river valley.
For decent, inexpensive self-catering accommodation in the Alpujarras, the villa is neat and fresh, not luxurious by any means, but very acceptable and perfectly comfortable.
The accommodation is bungalow-style, open-plan and all on the first floor, with parking space and swimming pool just by the cottage, which may come in handy for families or some people with reduced mobility. There is also a shaded porch area where you can to sit out and dine.
There are two bedrooms and the kitchen is simply but adequately set up and equipped for self catering for four people.
The garden has matured over the years, creating an intimate feeling, and the swimming pool is open for a typically long Andalucia season. Although we wouldn't call it secluded, the property enjoys good privacy and it is not overlooked by other houses.
Shops, market, café-bars with terraces and at least two good restaurants are a short drive away in Orgiva down the quiet country lane.
The chance to combine pool holidays with the mountains and seaside make the location a magnet for holidaymakers. We'll send you our detailed local guide as one of your holiday documents before you travel, but as a foretaste we suggest you try barbecued fish on the beach at Salobreña, or a visit to the exquisite Alhambra Palace in Granada. You can be at the Costa Tropical in 30 minutes and the Alhambra in 50 minutes.
And don't miss out on the High Alpujarra. The mountain villages of Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira in the dramatic Poqueira Gorge, for instance, where the air is cooler, meals in village restaurants are generously priced. The views and architecture are fascinating and the walking superb.

Everything was clean and tidy, a cooker could of been useful as opposed to the microwave. A very minor complaint is that the neighbours dogs were sensitive to any movement or noise thus barked quite a bit during the evenings. Despite the dogs we would still recommend this villa, not forgetting the plus side of its own private pool."
+ Read moreThe villa was perfect for our needs as a young family on a budget: the living space was comfortable and clean, the children's bedroom was great and the gardens were beautiful. the gardens had lovely orange and fig trees and a well-maintained pool area. The views were fantastic. The villas situation was also good. We were half an hour from the coast (and the waterparks that our children enjoyed so much), and half an hour from Granada and the Alhambra which was somewhere we were keen to visit. It was perfect for a young family. The keyholder was very helpful and friendly and her father, who came to look after the gardens, was kind and friendly, bringing us fresh vegetables. The town of Orgiva had all of the amenities we needed, and although we chose not to eat out regularly we did have a couple of good meals at the nearby Flor de Limonero restaurant. We felt it was a bit further than walking distance into town with young children, especially in the hotter summer months, but it as a very quick and easy drive. Orgiva itself wasn't as picturesque as some of the beautiful hilltop villages nearby but it was bustling and friendly with a charm of its own. The only things that I would have improved upon were the shower area in the bathroom which flooded easily and also the double bed in the main bedroom, it wasn't very comfortable. Thank you for a lovely holiday!"
Rustical Update
In January 2015, the house has been provided with a new mattress for the double bed.
We have recently come back from this property and were very sad to leave and plan on staying longer next time. It had everything we needed. The outdoor eating area was a bonus to not only have our meals at but also to cool down when it got too hot but the gardens were lovely and the private pool was a definite plus. Our correspondence from Rustical Travel and our instructions for our journey from the airport were invaluable and from start to finish it was a very smooth and enjoyable holiday. My only comment would be that it would be so much better if you could leave the villa at perhaps 12pm instead of 10am. Because you have such a relaxed holiday all week - then suddenly to be out by 10am on the day of departure all seems like a bit of a rush and is a shame. Obviously we understand about the changeover but it does seem like quite a long time as you can't check in till at least 5pm and maybe the times can be changed depending on the villa? Just a suggestion! But overall we had an absolutely super holiday and will definitely be booking again. Many thanks."
