Summary
This lovely cottage is nestled in a pretty traditional village and enjoys a charming garden with a barbecue - perfect for al fresco dining on those balmy summer nights! We are in Montaña Palentina Natural Park and just 4 kilometers from the border with Cantabria. We are a short walk from the village that has great restaurants. The best part about outdoor activities here is that the woods are right outside your door. A beautiful off the beaten track enclave waiting to be discovered! Sleeps 6 people.

Notes on facilities
No oven in the kitchen but the wood burner includes an oven (firewood included).
There is a portable hob available for additional cooking facilities.
The fridge in the kitchen is not large but there is an additional fridge/freezer space in utility room outside.
The utility room outside has laundry facilities and it is shared with the other holiday cottage in the estate.

Overview
On the edge of the village of Brañosera, in an enclosed plot, we find this estate with two independent twin holiday cottages with their own garden and facilities. Although these are, in essence, village houses, your sensation is one of country homes.
From here, you can walk through a beautiful, well-preserved forest. This magical wood will enchant you and invite you to take many photos.
The village is also lovely and is considered one of the most beautiful villages of Castilla León, and its setting is one of the natural treasures of Castilla: La Montaña Palentina. This Natural Park area is of high value due to its rich flora and fauna, with the brown bear as the star of the wildlife.
The village is considered the oldest in Spain as it was here that the first-ever town hall was established. When we visited this village for the first time in November 2022, we immediately saw that this captivating, idyllic location was perfect for rural tourism.
Although we are technically in the province of Palencia, the atmosphere here feels Cantabrian, with the region of Campoo (Cantabria) just over 5 minutes away by car.
The house inside is cosy and tastefully decorated. We missed a larger fridge in the kitchen, but this has been solved with an additional fridge in an external utility room.
The loft has been converted into an upstairs bedroom, adding a luxurious touch to the accommodation. We believe this house is ideal for couples with children.
It is a beautifully situated house where you can enjoy two local restaurants. We enjoyed one of the most memorable lunches in one of these restaurants. This popular restaurant, with a clientele from far and wide, is only a walk away from your holiday cottage.
Families will also love hiking with stunning trails that pass through rivers and waterfalls, tempting you to wild swims.
In summer, a highly recommended activity is to spend a day at one of the open-air swimming pools in the region's natural surroundings. The nearest one is only 3 km away! In 2023, the fee to access this public pool was 2.5 euros. You can also walk to this public pool, which could take around 40-45 minutes using a path.
The Ebro reservoir also awaits you with plenty of activities, from more technical ones like kitesurfing or windsurfing to more relaxed ones like kayaking or golf.
If you also feel like soaking up a bit of culture, the Romanesque Palencia is a jewel in this region with an impressive legacy.
