Overview
Wine connoisseurs, beach lovers, and those seeking an eco-retreat in one of Catalonia’s sunniest spots will adore this 15th century property.
Perched above rolling vineyards and only 15 minutes from the beach – this traditional family farmhouse remains as sustainable as it was 600 years ago.
Boasting a certified European eco label; the 6-bedroomed whitewashed home generates its own power and has a biomass heating system. Thick set walls ensure warm winters and cool summers, and everywhere you look there are conscientious touches showcasing a love of the world outside.
History abounds inside the farmhouse, only a century ago it was used as a refuge for nomadic shepherds making their way north to escape the long dry summer fields.
A clever transformation has turned the home into a comfortable communal place to rest and play.
The market square is now a bright green and blue pool area, the stables a gorgeous ground floor bedroom, and even the chicken house has taken on a new lease of life. Each nook holds these historical touches – from wooden beams to exposed stonework and roaring log fires in the original 16th century living room.
The modern world is also sewn into the details of this farmhouse property and guests will love the jacuzzi hot tub and sauna, expansive patio spaces for outdoor dining, indoor games room, and WiFi access (families with toddlers may want to be cautious with the occasional steps found around the house on each floor).
The kitchen is more than ample, and the formal dining room offers a celebratory place to sit down, however with the beautiful balmy climate of this area we expect guests will spend most their time whipping up dinner in the outdoor kitchen and dining al fresco beside the pool. With 100 half acres of private vineyards belonging to the finca, this is the place to embrace open air living.
Whether you are a city explorer or a beach comber, this spot on the Costa Dorada delivers the best of both worlds.
Coastal walks and a myriad of untouched beaches are waiting only 15 minutes away, and in less than an hour you could be gazing at Gaudi’s cathedral in bright Barcelona.
Those wanting to stay closer to home will find the local village less than 5 minutes’ drive and brimming with bars, shops and restaurants specializing in the finest Catalonian food and wine.
If you are looking for a place to hold an event, such as a wedding, this finca has vast experience in organizing this; if you are interested, please get in touch with our reservations team.
Location
The wine making region of Penedés, by the Costa Dorada.
On its own large estate of private vineyards. Easy access via short rural track from the country road to La Bisbal village (with shops and at least one good restaurant).

YOUR REVIEWS
Beautiful farmhouse with loads of space and comfy beds, most of which are larger than average UK double bed . The house was very clean and welcoming when we arrived . Christina , the owner and key holder was very friendly and helpful although didn't speak any English. This was rectified by the lovely Abigail who acted as interpreter and kept us informed of local events by text and was first port of call for any queries. The house has a lot of stone steps so a bit of a liability for the toddlers in our party but swimming pool area can be easily locked and the courtyard is a great place for children to play safely. We loved the outside kitchen and BBQ area and there is loads of fridge space. It could do with a couple of baking trays and a casserole dish to put in the oven but there were ample saucepans, crockery and cutlery. The sitting room area at the top of the house was lovely to relax in and great views all around the vineyards and surrounding area. Only negatives were that fans should have been provided for all the bedrooms and mosquito nets on the windows would be a good idea as we were plagued by biting insects in August. Beach at Coma Ruga is good for young children but busy in August. Good choice of supermarkets in El Vendrell and also train to Barcelona for day trips."
Rustical Update
We have informed the property managers so they can consider buying a couple of baking trays and casserole dish for the oven. Also, we were informed recently that they are considering installing mosquito nets for 2020.
It was a great property and we had a fantastic time there. However it was very hot and we would have liked fans in the bedrooms as sleeping was very difficult from the build up of heat during the day ( despite keeping the house as cool as possible). The Mosquitos were a huge problem too and some of our party were heavily munched while sitting outside during the evening. We invested in candles and plug in mosquito repellent for the bedrooms but perhaps screens could be fitted to the windows so that when left open during the night people were not at the mercy of the little creatures. The property was not ready when we arrived at the arranged time 5pm(and we were a good half an hour late which I messaged ) so that was disappointing. We arranged a slightly later time for leaving, in discussion with the owners, but my son and daughter in law felt they were being hustled out at that point and ended up spending a long time at the airport. I understand the properties have to be ready for the next visitors but it seemed to be one rule for some and another for others. Otherwise the owners were very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the area. A book in the house of places to visit, restaurants, supermarkets etc would have been a bonus but we enjoyed researching for ourselves too. It's a super property in a beautiful rural area but close to towns and beaches so there is something for everyone and the swimming pool is fantastic to cool off in after a day exploring."
Rustical Update
The property manager informed us that normally the house can be kept cool during the night if the windows are kept closed during the day and open at night, but there has been an unusual heat wave that has struck Spain in the past few weeks. Regarding mosquitos, the property manager informed that they are considering installing mosquito nets for 2020. As per check-in, we have been informed that a wedding took place the day before, which delayed the normal check-in time and therefore it wasn't possible to check-in until later than 5 pm. Lastly, the property manager confirmed that there are documents with local information at the property.
